Welcome to my oasis of thoughts and random postings
on things that interests me and that pertains to the field of Public Education.
I’m Rupes a graduating (May 4, 2012!!!) Curriculum and Instruction MA student at
the University of Central Florida. As you may be able to tell, I’m a bit excited
to be done with my masters program. To be honest a great amount of my excitement
is really not about finishing my masters but instead it’s mostly about getting
closer to the opportunity to be fully emerged into the field of Public Education.

Being so eager to get into the field of public
education, I’m currently in the candidate process for the Teach for America
program. It is my hopes to get selected to become a corps member and start teaching
in an urban school district at the 6-12 grade levels in math and/or social
studies in one of our many underfunded, underperforming, underserved school districts
such as Baltimore School District, Chicago Public Schools, and Newark Public School. From such experience
I plan to continue teaching and working in the field of Public Education, while
pursuing a doctorate degree is Education Leadership and/or Public Education
Policy-Making.
Many people may say that they which to grow up and
become the President, a medical doctor, a lawyer, an actor, or a CEO, but for
me I would love to one day have one of the toughest yet least glamorous job of
them all; Secretary of Education. My passion for education stems from the way I
was raised as an immigrant in a foreign country and coming to the realization
that the one empowering thing that no one can ever take away from an individual
is the ability to be educated. My ultimate
goal in life is to empower the youth around me by providing and ensuring them with the
best quality education possible.
